Introduction
Atoms are the smallest particles that make up an element. Atomic structures consist of three subatomic particles: Protons (positive charge), Neutrons (neutral charge), and Electrons (negative charge). Protons and Neutrons are found in the nucleus, and Electrons are found in the orbitals.

The atomic number it the number on top - that is the total number of protons and electrons. While the atomic mass is on the bottom - that is the number of protons added the number of electrons. And to find the number of neutrons you subtract the mass number from the atomic number. |

Valence Electrons are are single electron on the outermost orbital. When more than one valence electrons link up they create heat and give off color/light.
